Abstract

<p>Sleep is crucial for memory consolidation, but whether dreams play an essential role in memory consolidation is still unknown. This research will examine if incorporating a memory task into dreams benefits memory strength in a sleep-stage-dependent fashion. We will investigate spontaneous and experimentally induced incorporations using targeted memory reactivations. Ninety-two participants will be invited to spend two nights in the sleep laboratory, where they will learn a memory task before dream reports are collected. Memory performance will be measured before and after sleep as well as four days later.</p>
