<p>The objective of the current study is to examine the association between word reading and vocabulary knowledge in English and Meetei Mayek. The target sample (N = 354) is children in Grades 3 and 4 attending schools in Manipur, the average age would be about 10 years. It will be a cross-sectional design using standardized English reading measures and their adapted versions in Meetei Mayek. It is submitted as a Stage 1 Registered Report before data collection starts. The relationships among measures of word reading and vocabulary knowledge in English and Meetei Mayek will be examined. The linguistic interdependence hypothesis of English contributing to Meetei Mayek word reading and vocabulary knowledge will be tested. &nbsp;</p>
